Burning Man - THE BURN!!!!!
Tons of TNT, fireworks and general explosives have given their lives, bravely, to this BURN.

Once the heat died down, all 30,000 people rushed the structure. 30,000 people running around in a giant river of burning men (& women). At times I thought I'd be trampled, but I survived to tell the story. I even bought the t-shirt to commemorate that, but it got burned with the man.

The smoke swirled thick around everyone - creating huge smoke & ash tornados.

Some people threw stuff into the blaze - everyone has their own reasons. For some it was a catharsis, for others it was spiritual, or a means of passage or maybe a way of setting your spirit free. Any way you look at it, it is an experience like no other.

After we spotted this mime, we tossed him in the fire too.

"Look, I have - ugh - made fire! - ugh!" Quoth I from Cast Away.

The fire department was on hand - just in case. This is one of my favorite pictures.

And then the festivities began!! Fire!! Music!! Upside-down burning crosses!!!

This is precisely how this night felt.

Some watched the burn from a slightly higher vantage point.

This guy would feed the wandering litters of kitten with his Vest O' Nips.
